This captures a special moment in a really effective composition.

I think the moment is the most valuable part of this - a sense of freedom and independence, and slight "off-beatness". There is a sense that these two will never forget this moment in the decades to come. Without intruding, like a passer-bye, you have captured that, without breaking the bubble that they have around them. I enjoy how you have framed this to set the whole scene - the parked car, the sea, the open door leaving a whole bunch of questions and suggestions.

Technically, the door makes the composition for me, because it puts the whole image into a classic set of lines, but also seems to put it slightly off-balance - like the moment it is capturing. Nice work with the sea horizon. It can be a huge distraction if caught too high or low. I don't know if that was planned or just happened, but I like it where it is. Same with the hint of the fence posts, which I think support the sense of distance that holds their privacy.

Good work on the tones, from the deep rich shadows through to the highlights, with very little lost in between. Personally, I might have lightened some of the shadows, and it would have been nice to have a little texture in the sky, but I think I'm being picky there! Certainly, nothing is lost.

If photojournalism is about capturing moments of life as we live it, this is a job well done.
